Want to practice some calm before the Christmas storm? Then let the sounds and scents of the forest ease your stress by trying "forest bathing."
Known in Japan as shinrin-yoku, forest bathing is simply being in nature, connecting with the forest through our senses of sight, hearing, taste and touch.
We all know how good being in nature can make us feel, so the Forestry Commission has put together its Top 10 mindful walks this autumn, to refresh your body, mind and spirit - and two of them are in Kent.
Let the rainbow of colours and the scent of the trees transport you to a place of calm.
You can try it at Bedgebury National Pinetum in Goudhurst.
The 3.5 mile forest trail is a circular route that takes walkers along hard surfaced paths, passing ancient trees and ponds home to wild flowers, bats, birds and insects.
Once home to the sounds of iron manufacture, today you’re more likely to hear bird song, the patter of paws from dog walkers and the neigh of a horse.
You can also try it at Jeskyns’s Broomfield Loop, near Gravesend.
The 1.5 mile route is a gentle, undulating walk on surfaced paths, leading you through new woodlands, grazed meadows, orchards and ponds.
The commission has a downloadable activity pack which contains fun activity sheets including sensory activities from Mind and top forest bathing tips.
