A club event created by TV’s Vicky McClure and her husband, DJ and film producer Jonny Owen, is bringing ‘old-school clubbing’ back to Margate.
Day Fever, a daytime event aimed at over 30s, is a chance for partygoers to relive their youth – but still make it home in time for dinner and a cup of tea.
The idea was conceived by Vicky, who is best known for appearing in Line of Duty and This is England, and Jonny, who won a Welsh BAFTA for his 2006 documentary on the Aberfan disaster.
The pair joined forces with Jon McClure, frontman of Reverend and the Makers, who DJs at the nationwide events.
After making its debut in January last year at Sheffield's City Hall, Day Fever has become a regular club event that tours venues across the country.
“Travelling up and down the country and seeing so many people enjoying themselves has been such a joy,” says 41-year-old Vicky. “We’re just so happy that people feel comfortable at Day Fever.
“Meeting and hearing everyone’s stories has made us realise how important it is for us all to take some time out of life and just have a bloody good dance!”
The event prides itself on being a ‘safe space’ for adults to go clubbing with like-minded people in a similar age bracket.
There is no dress code and the music is a mix of everything from ‘80s anthems by Madonna and Prince to Britpop heroes Pulp and rock legends the Rolling Stones.
Day Fever will be at Dreamland’s Hall by the Sea in Margate on Saturday, March 22. You can book tickets here.
Doors open at 3pm and the event ends at 8pm. Last entry is at 7pm.
