Trains were affected yesterday, following the discovery at about 10.15pm.

Southeastern tweeted to say an "incident" had initially stopped all services between Faversham and Herne Bay.

It posted at 10.23pm: "Because of emergency services dealing with an incident, trains are currently unable to run between Faversham and Herne Bay."

In an update 30 minutes later it said services between the stations had been restored, but were not stopping at Whitstable.

It is not thought that the man was struck by a train.

The police have been contacted for a response.
