Man arrested for robberies, burglaries and an assault in Whitstable

A man has been arrested for a string of offences - including robberies, burglaries and an assault - reported to have taken place on the same day.

The 25-year-old male of no fixed address allegedly stole a woman's purse in the Crab and Winkle Way in Whitstable at about 6am on Friday, August 9.

Another robbery is reported to have taken place in Ham Shades Lane.

The man is also accused of burglaries in All Saints Close, Beach Walk, and Joy Lane; an attempted burglary in Joy Lane; and an assault, theft, and criminal damage in Old Bridge Road.

The man was arrested during the morning of Sunday, August 11, by plain clothes officers in Oxford Street in connection with the robbery in the Crab and Winkle Way.

A police spokesperson said he was further arrested in connection with a number of offences which allegedly took place on the same date.

He currently remains in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
