Canterbury man charged after Whitstable attack on woman

A man has been charged after a woman was attacked in Whitstable.

Police launched an investigation after the victim said she was assaulted and threatened by a man who was known to her.

Luke Barrett, of High Street, Canterbury, was arrested and later charged with multiple following offences.

This included two counts of assaulting the woman, relating to incidents in Whitstable between May 22 and 28, and threats to commit criminal damage, relating to an incident in the week beginning May 23.

He was also charged with possession of a bladed article - a hatchet - in Whitstable on May 28.

The 32-year-old appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to appear again on Monday, June 6.
