Police, paramedics and fire crews all arrived at the scene and the man, who is in his 20s, has been taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

Officers expect the carriageway to remain closed between the junctions for the two seaside towns until after midday as they continue to investigate the incident.

They are appealing for anyone with information to call them on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk, quoting the reference number DS/LB/009/20.
