Whitstable gun victim was shot by bullet not BB pellet

A man who was rushed to hospital had suffered a bullet wound, police have now revealed.

Officers initially believed the 22-year-old had been injured with a BB pellet at 1.50pm last Sunday in Whitstable.

But following surgery it has emerged the wound was caused by a bullet.

Armed police swooped on Westmeads Recreation Ground last weekend after receiving reports of the incident.

The victim, who is said to know the gunman, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Officers are trying to establish the type of weapon used.

They are urging anyone with information to call them on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/130220/19, Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
