Two Southern Counties East League Premier Division sides moved into the FA Vase quarter-finals on Saturday.
Play-off chasing Erith & Belvedere were penalty kings for a remarkable fifth time in the competition, seeing off United Counties League Premier Division South side Daventry Town 4-2 on spot-kicks after a 2-2 draw.
Freddie Baker gave Erith & Belvedere a seventh-minute advantage, only for Daventry to equalise seven minutes into the second half.
Substitute Nathan Palmer looked to have won it for the team led by Billy Hamlin and Jamie Phipps but, while Daventry grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser to stay alive, Erith & Belvedere went through on penalties to sit just two rounds from a Wembley Final.
Mid-table Whitstable moved through to the final eight for the first time in their history, despite having another depleted squad, as they edged past Fleet Town to earn a 2-1 triumph.
Two goals in eight minutes early in the second half from Jayden Boulton and Mikey Dalton were enough to send player-manager Jamie Coyle’s team through. Read our match report here.
Fleet Town managed to pull one back to set-up a grandstand finish, but the Oystermen held on in front of a crowd of 1,121 at The Belmont.
They earned £2,250 in prize money.
Second-placed VCD lost 1-0 at home against Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Hartpury University at the same stage.
Away substitute Renato Prifti grabbed a 96th-minute winning goal to knock the Vickers out.
