Scott Porter looking to make changes to Whitstable squad

Scott Porter expects a big reaction from his Whitstable Town side in their next Bostik South East match.

Whitstable were beaten 4-1 at Ramsgate on Monday and Porter expects and improvement when his side host Ashford United on Saturday.

The manager also is looking to make new signings in the next week.

Porter said: “All the games are tough in this league. We have got another tough one against Ashford on Saturday. Ramsgate deserved to get the win and take nothing away from them.

“I expect a massive reaction from the team and it is our first league game at home the season so we are looking for a big improvement.

“It is not like my teams to play like that. I’m trying to bring a few people in. I have seen enough now to know I need to get people in.

“I’m working hard this week to try and bring players in to the side.

“I need to make changes and need to spice things up a bit. I can’t just stand there and carry on watching that.

“We need a striker, maybe a left sided player and a midfielder. If I can get three in then I would be happy.”

Whitstable did make it through to the next round of the FA Cup after a 2-0 victory at CB Hounslow United.

However, Porter was far from satisfied with the performance and to make matters worse had a player sent off towards the end of the match.

He said: “We were expected to win. They were not a good side, if I’m honest, and we were not good on the day.

“They did not test until the end and it is pleasing to be in the next round.

“We were not good and I said to the players that if they play like that against Ramsgate we would get beaten.

“Charlie Smith did not deserve to get sent off. The most important thing is that we got through.”
