Scott Porter pleased with Whitstable's performances

Scott Porter believes Whitstable are on their way to getting back to level they were at last season.

Whitstable won two trophies and were promoted to the Bostik South East last season and kept 28 clean sheets in all competitions.

Porter’s side have now kept three clean sheets in a row and have got themselves up and running in the league.

Manager Porter said: “We thrive on clean sheets and it was something we did very well last year and wanted to take it up to this level.

“It is three games unbeaten now though and three clean sheets to go with it. We are a hard team to break down and we are getting a bit of confidence back.”

Porter wants to keep that run going in the Bostik South East when they face three Three Bridges and Saturday and then Sevenoaks on Tuesday.

Both games are at home for Whitstable and hope to get players back from injury.

Porter said: “The two lads who have come in slotted straight in and given us that added depth.

“We are still not at our best but we are getting towards that level we were at last year. The confidence is getting better.

“We will hopefully have Ricky Freeman and Stuart West on Saturday for the Three Bridges game. Their results do not do themselves justice as they have a strong squad.

“We are at home so I expect us to get maximum points.”

Whitstable moved up to 10th in the Bostik South East following their 2-0 victory at Phoenix Sports on Saturday and then got a point from their home match against Haywards Heath on Tuesday.

Porter said: “It was important to get a little run together. Going away to Phoenix Sports and picking up three points was very pleasing.

“We played some good football and we could have won by a few more than that as we created a lot of chances.

“They were going very well so it was good to get the win and keep another clean sheet.

“On Tuesday we had a four important players missing and we did not perform to our best. With those people out the boys did well.

“We have three days rest where we can get some players back fit before the next game on Saturday.”
