Appeal after serious assault in bar

A 38-year-old Ashford man sustained serious facial injuries when he was assaulted in a bar in the town.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred on Sunday, September 11, between 11pm and 11.30pm. The man was drinking alone in the bar in Drum Lane when he was hit in face.

He was not aware of the extent of his injuries until he attended Ashford's William Harvey Hospital the following day.

After an examination, it was determined that he had sustained a fractured cheek and probably a broken nose.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault, in particular the taxi drivers who took him home to Kennington, and to the hospital the following day.
