Man arrested after armed police called to BP petrol station in Hythe Road, Ashford

Armed police were called to a petrol station after a man was reportedly seen with a gun.

Officers taped off the BP garage, in Hythe Road, Ashford, as they worked to identify the suspect.

Police were also seen in nearby Silver Hill Road.

A 62-year-old man was arrested and an imitation firearm was seized during the incident on Saturday at 1.15pm.

The man was later bailed pending further inquiries.

The station was cordoned off until around 4pm.
