Police helicopter over Ashford as officers arrest suspected thieves

A helicopter was deployed to help police apprehend a pair of suspected thieves.

Officers on patrol in the Willesborough area of Ashford spotted a car they believed was linked to a number of criminal offences.

The chopper was called in and worked with officers on the ground to bring the vehicle to a halt in Silver Hill Road yesterday afternoon.

Police discovered a quantity of new clothes with security tags attached suspected to be stolen.

They also found a number of tin foil-lined bags and other items believed to be used for shoplifting.

A 22-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped to steal.

The boy was also arrested on suspicion of theft from a vehicle.

Both remain in custody while inquiries continue.
