Firefighters in Ashford were kept on their toes last night, with two fires in the borough and a callout to Lenham.

Rubbish was set alight in bushes in Tile Kiln Lane in Kennington and a car was later ablaze in Hamstreet.

Crews from Ashford were also called to a fire alarm at Lenham House in Lenham, which appears to have been set off by a man who had burnt his toast.
