A car has been crushed by falling debris from a block of flats in Ashford.

The Mazda3 has been partially flattened by bricks on the Repton Park estate as Storm Eunice continues to wreak havoc.

More masonry falls around the car on Repton Park

Fallen masonry can be seen strewn across Sir John Fogge Avenue after the collapse at about 2.30pm.

Clive Bellinger, who lives in the flat below the damaged roof, said he had been sat in his kitchen when police evacuated the block.

"The police came around and evacuated the entire building, getting us down the stairs as quickly as possible," he said.

"Less than a minute or two later, a whole chunk just came off and flattened the car."

"I don't know what's going to happen tonight, fortunately my car is over at my girlfriend's as they are not sure how stable the roof is," explained Mr Bellinger, who has been living in the road for five years.

"My neighbours a few doors down said a similar sort of thing happened a few years ago on the other side, which makes me wonder why it has been allowed to happen a second time."

A police spokesman said officers assisted the fire service "in ensuring residents were safe".

No injuries were reported.
