This was the moment a car went up in a fireball while parked outside a supermarket in Ashford.

The car, which appears to be a blue Mazda, was outside the Tesco Crooksfoot store near junction 10 of the M20 shortly after 5pm on Monday evening.

Jessica Davies was among the shoppers who witnessed the incident and took pictures of the fire.

She said: "Tesco staff were managing the road until the fire services turned up."

Fire crews battled the flames and sealed off the area around the car.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the crews used a hose reel jet and needed specialist breathing equipment to battle the blaze in the engine of the car.
