An elderly man who was reported missing yesterday has turned up safe and well.

Lewis Jones, 81, left his home in Ashford between 7.30am and 8am today to travel to Maidstone in his blue Ford Fiesta Finesse, registration number T949 WWV.

He is believed to have travelled through Bearsted at about 10.45am but concern for his welfare when he did not contact relatives nor contacted his relatives and police issued an appeal for information about his whereabouts last night.

The force issued a statement early this morning saying Mr Jones had been found safe and well.
