Driver escapes unhurt after van overturns in Boys Hall Road, Willesborough, following collision with car

A man had a lucky escape last night after his van overturned in Willesborough.

Police and fire crews were called to Boys Hall Road at 6.10pm to a report of a collision between a van and an Audi A4.

The commercial van had crashed on its side, leaving the driver trapped inside.

He escaped unhurt, without the need of assistance from firefighters.

A spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to Boys Hall Road at 6.13pm to a report a van had fallen to the side.

"We assisted police and made sure the scene was safe."

Robert Mealham, 69, of Lower Road, Woodchurch, and believed to be the driver of the car, was arrested and charged with drink driving.

He has been bailed and due to appear before magistrates on April 10.
