POLICE are hunting for a goup of youths who drove a dumper truck into several lamp posts and then a river in a Kent town.

The one-tonne vehicle was one of two chained together at a construction site in Ashford.

A resident nearby reported youths tampering with the trucks. When one was started and driven away the chain snapped.

The dumper truck caused considerable damage to a number of lamp posts and a brick wall before it was driven into a river and abandoned.

Anyone with information about this incident, which took place between 2.30am and 3am on Saturday, is asked to contact police on 01303 289180 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
