Engineers have cordoned off a high street after a burst water main flooded the road.

Shoppers approaching Ashford town centre from East Hill have reported the leak in the Lower High Street, opposite The County Hotel pub.

South East Water engineers arrived at the scene at 5.20am this morning, but the water has flowed down station road.

“Unfortunately emergencies like this do happen from time to time. We understand that the water leak did not affect supply to our customers and the repair should be complete by late this afternoon.”

Leaks can be reported to the company by calling 0333 000 3330.
