A former landlord is to go on trial later this year accused of twice allowing his dog to be dangerously out of control in a public park.

Cencizham Cerit, 53, of Primrose Court in Kingsnorth, Ashford, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court to deny two charges under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

His Anatolian shepherd dog is accused of being dangerously out of control when it allegedly bit two people on the Kingsnorth playing field on September 8 and 20 last year.

Cerit, described by his lawyer as a farmer, will go on trial in August in what is expected to be a three-day hearing.

Genevieve Reed, for Cerit, told the court that a dog behavioural expert is expected to give evidence for the defence.

Cerit unsuccessfully stood for election to Ashford Borough Council in 2011. He was granted bail until his trial.
