London Fire Brigade called Ashford firefighters to let them know about a man who had left his potatoes on the hob.

The Ashford crew was notified to head for Sheldwich Close in Stanhope after a home owner called the London Fire Brigade to say he had left his potatoes on, and had then gone to work.

Two fire engines attended and managed to get inside the house. There was smoke damage but no fire.
