Another fire at a travellers site in Ashford destroyed a toilet and shower block.

The building at the Chilmington Caravan Site off Mock Lane near the Singleton Environment Centre went up in flames early this morning.

Firefighters from Ashford and police attended the incident at 5.20am which left about "90% of the roof" damaged.

Crews were at the scene for around two hours putting the flames out.

Ashford fire station watch manager Clive Douglas said: "It's about the third or fourth time it's gone up. These sort of things don't go up on their own. Police were in attendance as well."

Ashford Borough Council, which manages the site, had to spend £49,000 to rebuild the block after a fire destroyed it in 2012.
