Problems with a wood burner are believed to be behind a fire which broke out in a chimney.

The blaze started yesterday at a house in Ashford Road, High Halden.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and carried out a watching brief to make sure the chimney breast cooled correctly.

Four fire engines arrived to tackle the blaze

There were no casualties and the fire is believed to have been accidental.

Firefighters have urged homeowners with open fires, wood burners and chimneys to ensure they are regularly maintained.
