Firefighters were called to flats in Folkestone last night, after a bin fire led to the evacuation of the building.

Two crews, one from the town and another from Hythe, were called to the Princes Gate flats in Bayle Street at around 1.30am.

They worked for just over an hour to extinguish a bin alight in an underground storage area.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the flats above.

No one needed treatment for smoke inhalation, as residents had evacuated the building.
