Neil Cugley says Folkestone Invicta’s slide down the Ryman League Division 1 table must not be blamed on the club’s continued off the field financial problems.

Invicta face struggling Three Bridges at Cheriton Road on Saturday – their first home game for more than a month – looking to end a run of eight league games without a win and boss Cugley says he more concerned about the club’s league position than the on-going cash woes.

Invicta headed the table a few weeks ago but have now slipped to 16th, only three points above newly-promoted Sussex County League champions Bridges with only a dozen points separating the clubs second and bottom respectively.

Cugley (pictured) said: "We have just got to get on with it and can’t use what’s happening off the field as an excuse.

"A couple of players have taken pay cuts and we have lost three players but seven of the squad this weekend who helped win us promotion three years ago are still at the club."

Three Bridges arrive at Cheriton Road on the back of a 3-2 win over Whitstable last week, which proved the last game of Oystermen boss Justin Luchford’s 12 months in charge at Belmont. The former Folkestone player was sacked on Tuesday night.

For the visit of Three Bridges Phil Stevenson is struggling with a tight hamstring, while Josh Burchell is also in contention to start.
