A surprise phone call from Damian Abel has led to the striker returning to Folkestone Invicta.

He and Neil Cugley go back a long way and with Stuart King struggling with a hamstring injury, the Invicta boss was pleased to re-sign him.

Cugley said: "He rang up and asked if he could come training after apparently falling out at Whitstable.

"We have got a couple of injuries and a few other problems, so he has come in on a non-contract basis to help us out until the end of the season.

"I have known him a long time. He’s a friend and lives next door to the ground."

Invicta travel to Walton & Hersham on Saturday. The Surrey club drew 0-0 at Dulwich on Tuesday, after a 5-3 win at Crawley Down last week with striker Greg Andrews, on-loan from Leatherhead, getting four.
