A greyhound has raced to the top by winning a leading Crufts prize.

Two-year-old Professor Higgins, from Ashford, was among 25,000 dogs at the show presented by the Kennel Club and won the prestigious best of breed award.

He was entered by 42-year-old accountant Paul Bartlett and his wife Rita who put in an entry in 1988 that gained the same prize.

Mr Bartlett is a borough councillor and deputy leader of Ashford borough council.

Mr Bartlett said: “To win again after more than 20 years is a fantastic feeling.

“It takes a lot of hard work to get to this stage but it has been worth every second.”
