A wave of protest has greeted council plans to close town centre public toilets in Ashford and Tenterden.
The public, councillors and businesses have jointly express dismay at Ashford council proposals to permanently shut 14 public conveniences across the borough in a cost-cutting move.

Plans to shut down the toilets will be discussed by Ashford council's cabinet on Thursday night with campaigners demanding a u-turn.

John Holland, former borough councillor and Ashford Mayor from 2009/10, said: “I would urge the cabinet to seriously reconsider closure of Ashford's town centre toilets and, in particular, those in New Rents."

See this Thursday's Kentish Express for a special two-page report on the toilet closure proposals and the angry reaction the idea has provoked.
