Harry Ramsden's has fried its final fish at a shopping centre to make way for a major renovation.

The popular fish and chip shop has decided to close down permanently at Ashford Designer Outlet due to construction work which is going through the food court.

On Wednesday, a spokesman from the food chain said: "Unfortunately we will be closing for the last time tonight as we are running out of stock.

"The closure we will be permanent because we can't move back to our current location as it is all being changed in the expansion.

"The only choice was to move between two clothes shops but they wouldn't have been happy because of the smell."

Harry Ramsden's took its final orders at 5pm on Wednesday.

It has also been confirmed that McDonald's will be closing at some point too.

It has not yet been confirmed when the closure will begin or how long it will last.

Last week, the designer outlet's boss said building work on the multi-million pound expansion project would start in November.

The renovation, given the go-ahead in 2015, will feature up to 50 more shops or restaurants and is said will create 500 more jobs.
