A chart-topping folk hip-hop duo has been announced as this year’s Create Music Festival headliners.

Nizlopi, best known for their 2005 hit The JCB Song, will be taking to the main stage in Victoria Park on Sunday, July 27.

Also announced for the line-up is Ashford’s very own Intermission Project, comprised of Jim Rubaduka and Alex Stevens, who met as children at St Mary’s Primary school in the town and were later joined by drummer Charlie Campbell, from Guildford.

Nizlopi will take to the main stage at Create Festival this year

Last year, Create broke records with over 13,000 people flocking to Victoria Park to see local acts perform alongside 2013 headliners Dodgy.

Create supremo Chris Dixon said: “By getting the likes of Nizlopi and The Intermission Project, we are sending the message that the festival has grown into one of the best free music festivals in the South East, committed to showcasing original music from chart toppers and home grown acts.

“The Intermission Project played an acoustic set at Create a few years back when they were still at school, so it is great to see them doing so well in the music industry, and I can’t wait to welcome them back.

Ashford’s very own Intermission Project will also perform

“It is a real coup for Create to bring a handful of huge names from the UK music scene to Ashford and I hope this will be a big boost for those local acts who get to support them.”

Britpop act Toploader will open the weekend with a one-off show at St Mary’s Church on Saturday July 26, supported by Ashford acts James Kirby and Pip Bowers and the Family Bones.
