Friends of a mum with terminal cancer are set to step into their hiking boots and walk for 18 miles along Kent's coastline to raise money for her family.

Anyone is welcome to get involved and join the hike - which has been set up to raise money for 33-year-old Natalie Havill from Willesborough in Ashford.

It will start and finish near Walmer Castle on Saturday, April 27.

Mrs Havill has had radiotherapy treatment and an operation to remove part of her lung since being diagnosed with cancer ten years ago.

More recently, medics told the mum-of-two that the rare cancer has returned for a third time and that there is no further treatment available.

Since hearing the news, Natalie's friends from Sittingbourne have raised more than £9,000 to help her make memories with her husband and two daughters.

Her work colleagues at Holiday Extras have also set up a fundraising page, which has raised more than £10,000.

Now, school friend Jade O'leary, from Wingham, has organised an 18-mile hike and is encouraging others to get involved.

Friends are set to walk 18 miles for the mum-of-two (8071595)

The 33-year-old said: "We're hiking 18 miles to raise funds for Natalie Havill and her family. Natalie is a young mum who has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time.

"The route is a big circle and covers the White Cliffs. It will take around five hours to complete and will end up back were we've started.

"If you'd like to join us on the hike, we only ask that you pledge to raise as much for the family as you can - there will be no minimum sponsorship."

The Long Distance Walking Association is helping to organise the event and is looking for volunteers to assist during the day and help run snack and water stands.

Mrs O'leary added: "There will be a limited number of spaces available and if you would like to join message me on the Facebook page.

"We will release more details nearer the time when we know how many hikers we have."
