Hilarious signs have been placed on the outskirts of one of Britain’s spookiest villages, as Halloween approaches.

Visitors to Pluckley, near Ashford, have noticed the displays, which ask newcomers to respect its spectral and undead residents ahead of October 31.

The signs have been placed on either entrance road to the village – which is widely reported as being a hotbed of the supernatural.

They ask incoming motorists to “slow down – or you will upset our ghosts”.

It describes the village as a “neighbourhood watch area, staffed by the living and the dead”.

The signs are believed to be the work of Asher Maze, an artist behind a number of bespoke signage across East Kent.

Last year, the anonymous artist was behind a redecoration of Folkestone Harbour Arm’s sign.

Once again making the change to mark Halloween, the large ‘Folkestone’ sign was changed to read ‘skeleton’.

In Pluckley, there have been rumours of a phantom coach and horse, ghosts in the Black Horse pub, a phantom monk, a Tudor lady and many more.
