Firefighters had to pump water out of flooded homes in Ashford early today.

Crews were called to Steeds Close, Kingsnorth, at 4.25am to remove water from two houses.

Mark Roberts, from Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said a specialist pump had been sent.

“Two properties were flooded with water inside and one was at risk of flooding,” he said.

“The crews were still there at 9am and making good progress.”

The flooding follows heavy rain overnight.
