A trendy ice cream and desserts parlour has revealed plans to move into an empty town centre restaurant.

Kaspa’s Desserts has applied to take on the former Pizza Hut restaurant at the bottom of the Lower High Street in Ashford.

The space has been empty since the multinational corporation moved out in early 2013, and had been the subject of rumours about becoming a motoring themed cafe and bar.

But now Kaspa’s, which declares itself the “king of desserts”, has revealed its plan to move into the site by applying for planning permission to put up its signs.

The menu boasts sundaes such as knickerbocker glory and mango mania, waffles and crepes, and puddings such as sticky toffee pudding and hot apple crumble.

The company previously opened in Canterbury, and has now revealed plans to open a parlour at Westwood Cross in Thanet in March as well as in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

It has earmarked sites across south east London, and could soon boast more than 60 locations around the country.

The company states: “Kaspa's are a chain of exciting new dessert houses that offer the world's favourite hot and cold desserts under one roof.

“Our emphasis is on high quality desserts, good customer service and an overall amazing dining experience for our customers.”

It follows the arrival of rival Just Desserts in Bank Street last summer.
