Police have released an e-fit of a man believed to have wielded a chainsaw around a town centre.

Armed officers joined a large emergency response in Ashford after a shop window at the Coral bookmakers in Castle Street was cut into.

Police say they have carried out "extensive inquiries" and have now released the computer-generated image of the suspect.

Police were alerted to the erratic behaviour just before 8pm on Saturday, September 22, with members of the public threatened.

The suspect is said to have also attempted to target a man riding a bike through the town, but no injuries were reported.

Staff at the bookmakers said he had a t-shirt over his head and used the power tool to cut into the shop's window, and also damaged a lamppost.
