How about a nice bit of cheese?

It’s one of cartoon character Wallace’s favourite questions for his pet dog Gromit.

But when an Ashford woman used a similar phrase in a text message, undercover police knew she wasn’t talking about Wensleydale.

Drug dealer Kylee Mills, 39, was using “some nice cheese” as code for skunk cannabis, Canterbury Crown Court heard.

And that turned out to be a mousetrap when officers raided the home in Earlsworth Road that she shared at the time with lover Daniel Groom.

There they discovered the Class B drug, scales and tell-tale evidence of dealing in text messages on Mills’s mobile phone.

Prosecutor Alastair Walker told how police went to the house in January and asked Mills directly if she had any drugs in the house.

“She immediately said ‘yes’ and told officers they would find some in the cupboard. There
they found 35 grams of skunk cannabis in a bag with a street value of £250.

“And they also found £155 in cash.”

Mr Walker said a forensic examination of Mills’s phone revealed a series of messages to a ‘Josh2’ about the supply of cannabis.

He added: “One of the messages read: ‘Got some nice cheese, mate’.

Walker said Groom’s phone also contained a message that read: “200 if you are serious mate. Nice cheese.”

Groom, 30, now of Glebelands, Mersham, was jailed for six and a half months, and Mills for four and a half months.

Both had pleaded guilty to possessing a class B drug with intent to supply.

Wayne Cranston-Morris, defending the pair, said: “What we have here is the bottom end supply. There was no large financial gain, no celebrated surroundings, no Porsche or fast cars. In fact, they lived a hand-to-mouth existence.”

Judge Adele Williams told the pair that they had been living a chaotic lifestyle that resulted in them being arrested for failing to attend an earlier court hearing.
