Johnny Depp reportedly has his eye on a £1 million pub which is currently owned by Paul Hollywood's fiancée.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has shown interest in The Chequers Inn, a Grade-II listed watering hole in Smarden near Ashford.

The venue has been owned by the Spalding family for several years – including landlady Melissa Spalding who has been dating celebrity baker, Hollywood, since 2019.

Earlier this month it was revealed that the historic site in The Street – which dates back to the 15th century – had been listed on Rightmove for £999,995.

The venue has seven rooms, a 35-cover bar, a 37-cover restaurant with a pizza oven, and a large two-bedroom owner's accommodation.

It has been reported by The Sun that the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actor is said to be “a huge fan” of the boozer.

A source told the national paper that Depp "adores the pub and has done for years."

They said: "Johnny loves the history and has spoken before about wanting to buy a pub.

“It’s right in the heart of the English countryside. It’s right up his street.”

Depp, who is also well-known for his role as Edward Scissorhands, was last seen in Kent in June 2022.
