Police hunt Ashford jewel thief

Police are hunting a knife-wielding robber who raided an Ashford jewellers.

The man, who was carrying a knife and a silver bag, was also wearing a scarf over his face when he walked into the shop in Kings Parade just after 5pm yesterday.

He broke open a display cabinet and then grabbed a quantity of jewellery before escaping on foot.

The man was wearing a dark jumper or coat with the hood up, a white and black scarf covering his face, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Lewis Tompsett said: “Fortunately nobody was approached or threatened during the incident. However, anyone who saw him should call us on 01843 222289 quoting the reference ZY/46666/16.”
