A man has been arrested following a report of an assault in a house.

Police were called to Little Chequers - a residential street in Wye, near Ashford - late yesterday evening.

The man was detained after his arrest on suspicion of criminal damage and assault.

He remains in custody.

Villagers reported seeing a police car, van and ambulance at the scene after 9pm.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
