The employee reportedly tested positive on Friday after coming into contact with another positive case outside of the company.

The restaurant remains open after being given an "enhanced clean" to ensure sanitary conditions.

A McDonald's spokesman said: “Last week, an employee at our Ashford Orbital Park tested positive for Covid-19.

"The test was taken following close contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19 – that person does not work for McDonald’s.

"The restaurant was given an enhanced clean as a precaution and we contacted all restaurant employees.

"We have a number of safety measures in place to help keep our people safe, including perspex screens, temperature checks at the start of each shift, maintaining a two metre distance from others as much as possible, face coverings, regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.”
