A military charity is selling poppies and other items in Ashford town centre ahead of Remembrance Day.

Volunteers from the local Royal British Legion (RBL) branch are manning various spots across the town, including on the streets of central Ashford, at the Designer Outlet, and close to the entrance of County Square.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “This year we have compiled a living history snapshot of veterans from the Ashford area in a series of iconic photos which we will display on our table.

“If your institution, shop, pub or office would like a poppy tin this year, please get in touch and we can arrange one for you.

“If you are a veteran, loved one or just wish to be a friend of the RBL, why not pop into our office on Church Road opposite the Library on Mondays, Tuesdays or Saturdays between 10am-12pm for a chat and a cup of tea.”

The branch has been open for 18 months and is going from “strength to strength”.

A spokesman said: “Each month we connect with new veterans who join our ranks, expanding the post armed forces comradeship that the RBL encourages.”
