A YouTube video has emerged showing the My Lidl Pony stunt was the work of online pranksters.

Last week, KentOnline reported that shoppers in Lidl, Ashford, were shocked to spot a pony being led round the supermarket by a man who appeared to be blind.

A suspicious resident delivered a photo of the spectacle to the Kentish Express newsdesk and said he thought it was a joke, and it turns out he was right.

The video shows a little pony dressed in a high-vis jacket being paraded around the store by a man, appearing to blind and claiming to be looking for 'dog food' for his 'aide'.

When the security guard points out that he's leading a horse, the man, in an Irish accent, says "Oh s**t I’ve done it again, I thought I brought the dog."

The four-minute video is being covertly filmed by a fellow prankster who captures the shocked reactions of shoppers.

When the 'blind' man and his pony leave the shop, the cameraman is heard asking a puzzled onlooker if she thinks the man was really blind.

Clearly shocked, the girl asks if it was really a "proper" horse, to which the cameraman replies - "It’s a my Lidl Pony."

Trollstation, the YouTube channel behind the video, appears to be a collaboration of numerous British pranksters from around the country.

It claims to create content which is "intentionally provocative and controversial with the aim to offend and harass the general public in the name of comedic satire."
