Ashford: 'Naked' man allegedly spotted trying to grab pupils near North School

A naked man was allegedly spotted trying to grab and chase pupils near a secondary school.

Police were called to Hunter Road in Willesborough close to the North School in Essella Road, Ashford.

A statement released to parents by the school said an undressed man was “trying to grab at and chase pedestrians”.

It said: “We have been informed by a group of students of an incident which occurred on their journey into school.

"A man was acting strangely in Hunter Road and outside the Co-op store. Police officers attended the scene.

“Luckily, nobody was injured but we are supporting those students who witnessed the incident today and collecting statements for the police."

A 31-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police spokesman Natalie Hardy said: "We were called to Hunter Road in Willesborough at around 8am on following reports of assault, criminal damage and indecent exposure.

“The man has since been passed to the care of medical professionals, however the incident remains under investigation and inquiries are ongoing."
