An oven fire in Ashford sparked an emergency response last night.

Fire crews were called to a property in Poppy Mead, Kingsnorth just before 11pm.

The fire service told the occupants that they had done the right thing by vacating their home and calling 999.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out the small fire, checked for fire spread and removed the oven from the property. They left the scene at around 11.30pm.

No injuries have been reported.
