Police appeal over 'racist' incident in Ashford shop

A shop owner was allegedly racially abused by a customer who claimed he had been short-changed.

The incident happened at the Best One shop in Kingsnorth Road, South Ashford, shortly after 6.15pm on Monday.

A man entered the store to buy cigarettes and alcohol. He got into an argument with the storeowner, claiming he had been short-changed.

It’s alleged that racist remarks were used during the disagreement.

Police are keen to speak to any customers who were in the shop at the time. Any witnesses are asked to call Det Con Darren Brough on 01233 896283.
