Police appeal for witnesses after teenager assaulted near East Hill in Ashford

Police have appealed for witnesses after a teenager was hospitalised during an assault.

The 17-year-old was attacked in Mace Lane in Ashford at 7.30pm on Sunday, and sustained injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers were seen searching the nearby East Hill area by the former Liquid nightclub and used sniffer dogs around the River Stour.

Officers carried out searches around East Hill on Sunday evening.

They arrested a 22-year-old man from Sittingbourne on suspicion of assault.

The teenager was taken to hospital.

The suspect has been released on police bail until Monday, July 11, pending further enquiries by officers.
