Police called to Wellesley Road in Ashford after reports 'man seen with weapon'

Police were called to a street following reports a man was spotted with a weapon.

Officers in three patrol cars arrived in Wellesley Road in Ashford, not far from the town centre, just before 2pm.

They located the man in question but say no weapon was found and no offences were identified.

On Sunday, a man suspected of stealing £2,000 worth of clothing from Ashford Designer Outlet was caught in the act trying to take more goods.

Police were called to the centre in Kimberley Way following reports a man entered a clothes store and attempted to leave with a number of items without paying.

Two days earlier, two stolen motorbikes were recovered by police after a high-speed chase in the town.

Just after 2am on Friday officers attempted to stop a motorcyclist after suspecting the vehicle was stolen.

The suspect failed to stop which led to the pursuit where the driver was reportedly driving dangerously through red lights, the wrong way down a road, and on a public footpath at speed.

The bike was eventually brought to a stop in Littlebrook Road in Repton Manor.
