Police officers gave chase on foot after being alerted to an "altercation" in Ashford town centre.

A number of teenagers were involved in the high street disturbance yesterday afternoon, with one person reportedly being assaulted.

One man attempted to leave the area but officers pursued him and made an arrest.

An 18-year-old remains in custody having been arrested on suspicion of assault and affray.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
