Police cordon in Ashford town centre after attack near County Hotel Wetherspoon pub

Police are hunting a suspect after a man was reportedly attacked in a town centre.

Officers set up a cordon around Park Street in Ashford at around noon, near the JD Wetherspoon County Hotel pub.

The alleged victim, whose injuries are understood to not be life-threatening, has been rushed to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital.

Police says they were called shortly before 11.50am following a report a man had been assaulted.

A spokesman added: An investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing and an area of Park Street has been cordoned off while officers carry out enquiries," a spokesman explained.
